Team Leconte remained in imperious form on day two at the World Tennis Challenge at Memorial Drive after Victoria Azarenka and Fernando Verdasco both won their singles matches to give their team an unassailable lead.
Henri Leconte holds the appearance record for the World Tennis Challenge, however tonight’s win is his first World Tennis Challenge victory in nine attempts.
Azarenka got off to a flying start against Eugenie Bouchard in the first match of the evening, cruising to a 4-0 lead before the Canadian could get a game on the board. From then on it was a closer affair but the damage had already been done and the two-time Australian Open champion eased to an 8-4 victory.
Verdasco looked extremely comfortable as he saw off Borna Coric for the loss of just five games, and made it two wins from two after he and Leconte combined to secure a 7-5 doubles victory.
Our sincere thanks to the players, fans, spectators and viewers of the World Tennis Challenge for their continued support of the event. We would also like to pass on our thanks to the staff, umpires, ballkids, volunteers and all who make this event possible.
