BE ACTIVE CHALLENGE Events SCHEDULE

In 2011 the WTC Be Active Challenge will incorporate various tennis participation events enabling players of all ages and abilities to enjoy Adelaide's festival of tennis tennis participation events providing more opportunities for people to access tennis and enjoy the benefits of our great game.

Below is an outline of the events within the 2011 WTC Be Active Challenge schedule:

WTC City of Charles Sturt AMT
Dates:  3-6 January 2011

The original Australian Money Tournaments that were developed by Tennis Australia in 2006, the Platinum AMT's offer a total of $10,000 across the open events.  These tournaments are the pinnacle in competition for tennis athletes outside of the Australian Pro Tour events, and provide maximum Australian Ranking points.

Tennis SA has joined forces with the West Lakes Tennis Club and the City of Charles Sturt Council to host this event during the 2011 WTC Be Active Challenge.

WTC City of Unley Junior Open
Dates:  4-7 January 2011

The Optus Junior Tour (OJT) is an umbrella tour that provides a clear competitive pathway for aspiring tennis players.

These tournaments offer points across the 12/U, 14/U and 16/U age groups, giving all juniors the opportunity to obtain an Australian Ranking. As well as the above listed events, all OJT tournaments in South Australia offer a 10/U event that will use the modified ‘green ball’.

This event will compliment the WTC Les Tapp Inter-Association and the WTC Country Carnival events, with participants having the opportunity to play the City of Unley Junior Classic prior to either the Les Tapp Junior Inter-Association or the Country Carnival.

WTC City of Salisbury AMT
Dates: 7-10 January 2011

WTC Les Tapp OAM Junior Inter Association
Dates: 8 -12 January 2011

The Les Tapp OAM Junior Inter-Association Events are four person team events with players representing their respective tennis associations. All players are provided with an opportunity to participate in a team atmosphere across 10/U, 11/U, 12/U, 13/U, 14/U, 15/U & 16/U age groups with various graded levels depending on ability level. All South Australian players represent their local association with over 500 players involved in a week of competition.

WTC Senior Inter Association
Dates:  8-10 January 2011

South Australia’s best club players come together to represent play in a unique and entertaining format of the game to find the best association in the state. The event will be played at Tennis SA’s Millswood Complex following the Les Tapp Junior Inter Association. Matches will be held in the afternoon and evening on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th and in the evening on Monday 10th January.

The unique World TeamTennis (WTT) format will be used which features mixed teams competing in men's and women's doubles, men's and women's singles and mixed doubles. The distinctive format includes no-ad scoring, substitution and coaching.

WTC Corporate Challenge
Dates: 10 January 2011

WTC Country Carnival
Dates:   10-14 January 2011

The WTC Country Carnival is an event that has a long and very proud history in South Australia. It is an opportunity for players to represent their Association and participate in a competitive yet fun and enjoyable environment. The WTC Country Carnival is South Australia’s showcase event for regional affiliates and their members.

After the successful addition of the World Tennis Challenge, the week has proven to be an opportunity for the country tennis community to play and participate, then attend South Australia’s feature international tennis event.

The WTC Country Carnival is a grassroots team tennis participation event, with players graded into appropriate standards pending recommendation from their association.

WTC MLC TENNIS Hot Shots - Ultimate Red Ball Challenger

MLC Tennis Hot Shots is the fun way for kids (4-12yrs) to learn how to play tennis. Smaller courts, nets, racquets and low-compression balls make learning easy and give younger players the chance to serve, rally and score right from the first time they play

The WTC Red Ball Mini Challenge is South Australia’s premier MLC Tennis Hot Shots red ball challenge event delivered by Tennis SA.  The WTC Red Ball Mini Challenge is hosted at Memorial Drive during World Tennis Challenge and is tailored for children 8 and under.  It is to introduce a competition pathway for those children who have participated or currently participate in a MLC Tennis Hot Shots red ball program.  The day includes round robin team matches, special guests and exclusive player signing session.

WTC MLC TENNIS Hot Shots - Come and try

MLC Tennis Hot Shots is the fun way for kids (4-12yrs) to learn how to play tennis. Smaller courts, nets, racquets and low-compression balls make learning easy and give younger players the chance to serve, rally and score right from the first time they play

New players are invited to register for the WTC MLC Tennis Hot Shots session conducted on Memorial Drive Centre Courts with Tennis Australia accredited coaches.This is the MLC Hot Shots event which everyone will want to be apart as children will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with WTC players, and even score themselves a Pat Cash headband and photo/signature. It’s a money can’t buy experience and spaces are strictly limited to 100 children.

WTC Doubles Challenge
Dates:   11-13 January 2011

The WTC Doubles Challenge is a doubles participation event open to all players.

There is a Men’s and Women’s premier division as well as graded divisions. Both the premier and social divisions consists of doubles matches only, however the premier division also offers participants Australian Ranking Points and prize money.
